London to Brighton Veteran Car Run

This annual event attracts over 400 cars, all built before 1 January 1905.

Organised by the Royal Automobile Club since 1930, the Run celebrates the anniversary of the ‘Emancipation Run’ of 14 November 1896. That event marked the passing into law of the Locomotives on the Highway Act which raised the speed limit from 4mph to 14mph and removed the requirement for someone to be walking in front of your car waving a red warning flag.

Full information about the event, including this year’s timings and the best places to watch it from, can be found on the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run website.
