Junior Academy
Junior golf is for anyone under the age of 18 and is a great way for younger members to become more involved in the Club and receive the encouragement they need to develop their skills.
Golf places strong emphasis on good sportsmanship, self-discipline and behaviour and is therefore an ideal medium through which children and young people can further develop skills such as honesty, respect, co-operation, perseverance, concentration and self-motivation – skills which they can carry through to adulthood.
The Golf Professional Team are delighted to offer Woodcote Junior and Junior members the opportunity to join the Club’s Junior Academy.
Juniors under 12 years of age must always be accompanied by a responsible playing adult, regardless of their Pass Holder status.
Juniors will be required show one of our Club Professionals that they have reached an appropriate standard and understanding of the rules and etiquette of playing the game before playing on their own once they are over 12 years old.
Juniors can enjoy a substantially discounted green fee when playing the Old Course.
There is no green fee charge for Junior Golf Pass Holders using either of the courses and they receive a complimentary basket of thirty balls for practice.
Coaching is available for all ages and abilities. Our Junior Academy gives junior members an opportunity to enjoy learning, competing with other juniors, while reaching the ability and confidence to join as a Junior Golf Pass Holder.
Junior Pass Holder Benefits
- Direct access to advice and tips from the Club’s PGA qualified professionals
- Guidance on golf etiquette on and off the course

Same rights of access as other Pass Holders - Roll ups and competitions
Junior Golf
Before applying to become a Junior Pass Holder, Juniors must book an assessment with one of the Club’s PGA Professionals. This assessment determines whether the Junior is ready to play unsupervised and book tee times independently.
Please note, regardless of pass holder status, Juniors under 12 years of age must always be accompanied by a responsible playing adult.
Junior Golf Pass Holders and Woodcote Junior (WJ) Members are afforded the same rights as each other when on the estate. These are as follows:
Coronation Course
If playing with an adult member, all Juniors and WJs receive complimentary use of the Coronation Course. The junior golfer is the responsibility of the adult member, and it is incumbent on the adult member to ensure that both the pace and play and agreed-upon etiquette standards are met when on course.
Age Restrictions
Before applying to become a Junior Pass Holder, Juniors must book an assessment with one of the Club’s PGA Professionals. This assessment determines whether the Junior is ready to play unsupervised and book tee times independently.
Please note: Regardless of Pass Holder status, Juniors under 12 years of age must always be accompanied by a responsible playing adult.
Unsupervised play for ‘non-Junior Pass Holders’
Should a junior golfer over the age of 12 years wish to play without the company of an adult member, an appointment with one of the PGA team members to have both their etiquette and playing standards signed off should be booked. At this point, the junior may make bookings in their own right and are responsible for their actions on the courses. Bookings with the PGA team can be made by contacting Golf Reception.
Junior Golf pass holders must also be signed off to play on their own or have an existing WHS handicap index that confirms a playing standard has been met.
