Walled Garden

The Club will soon, for the first time, have facilities designed specifically for children and their families.

With walls enclosing a space of some 12,000 square metres, the Walled Garden has been developed into an exciting, safe and welcoming environment with a range of facilities aimed primarily at pre-teens and their families – including a children’s swimming pool and a variety of play areas.

Open throughout the year, it will also be the venue for a programme of activities such as sports lessons, holiday camps and birthday parties.

The Walled Garden will open on Saturday 17 April.

To the right as you enter the Walled Garden, you will see the beautifully restored Gardener’s Cottage. As well as being the home to the Club’s crèche, it will be used for a variety of classes and activities for children and it will also be available to book for birthday parties.

The main feature of the new building is a 15m swimming pool – the perfect place for children to play and to learn, from babies in their parent’s arms through to confident young swimmers practicing their strokes. Next to the pool, a shallow water confidence play area has sprays, bubbles and waterfalls to entertain the youngest children.

The ground floor of the building includes a soft play area, a junior lounge and the Garden Café. Located on the floor below, the changing facilities have been carefully designed for family use, with changing cubicles of various sizes. The Garden Café also has an outdoor terrace, looking out across the lawn and outdoor play areas.

With such a large area available within the Walled Garden, many activities will take place outdoors. The outdoor play equipment is divided into distinct areas for different age groups and the two ‘Multi-Use Games Areas’ (MUGAs) provide surfaces suitable for junior sports such as football, basketball and tennis, whether in organised sessions or for informal play.

The water fun will also continue outside, with a splash playground where jets of water and brightly coloured fountains will be a magnet for excited children, particularly on warm sunny days.

Directly in front of the new building is a large lawn, perfect for children to run around and play games on. The more distant areas will provide quieter areas for picnics and relaxation.

Opening Hours

The Walled Garden will be open 9.00am to 8.00pm every day.
