Car park and reception
The new extension has been constructed on the side of the clubhouse to provide a new entrance and a larger, more comfortable reception area. The Members’ Car Park has been completely relandscaped, creating a smarter and more welcoming arrival to the clubhouse.
Hurricane Bar
The Hurricane Bar has been extended and refurbished in keeping with its existing character. This has provided much-needed additional space through the creation of two new booth seating areas: the Camm & Simpson, named in honour of Sir Sydney Camm, the British aircraft designer who created the famous Hawker Hurricane single-seat fighter aircraft, and Pilot Officer Peter Simpson, who crash-landed his damaged Hawker Hurricane on the grounds of Woodcote Park in 1940.
Bedrooms
All 22 bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms and bedroom corridors have been upgraded with the installation of air conditioning and, for the rooms overlooking the car park and the rear of the building, improved sound insulation. There are also two DDA-compliant rooms accessible to Disability Discrimination Act standards.
Replacement kitchen
The main kitchen, which was 20-years old, is now fully electric with the installation of induction hobs and new equipment that is more practical, reliable and efficient.
Behind the scenes upgrades
Much of the infrastructure and utilities has been upgraded with new electrics, water pressure and heating to improve reliability.
External repairs
Repairs have been made to some of the damaged 1930s stonework brickwork, windows and parts of the roof.
