ROYAL AUTOMOBILE CLUB V ROYAL BELFAST

Annual Fixture

Ladies’ v Royal Belfast
Old Course and Coronation Course
Thursday 17 and Friday 18 September

Woodcote Park was delighted to welcome the ladies team from Royal Belfast Golf Club for this year’s annual fixture, a much-anticipated two days of friendly, but highly competitive, golf. After an excellent contest played in great spirit, the Royal Automobile Club ladies’ golf team secured an overall victory of 6.5 to 5.5.

A Warm Welcome to Old Friends and New
The Royal Belfast Golf Club ladies arrived at Woodcote Park on Wednesday, bringing with them the familiar warmth and sporting spirit that make this fixture such a valued part of the golfing calendar. It was a pleasure to renew longstanding friendships and to make new connections over the course of the visit.

Day 1: A Closely Fought Start on the Coronation Course
The opening day on the Coronation Course set the tone for a fiercely contested match, with both sides producing competitive golf throughout. By the end of play, we held a narrow one-point advantage, leaving everything still to play for on the second day.

Day 2: Victory Secured on the Old Course
Friday’s matches on the Old Course continued in the same competitive spirit, with the final result remaining in the balance until the final pairings came in. Our team rose to the challenge and secured the overall win by 6.5 to 5.5.

A wonderful fixture, played with friendship and good humour throughout, ended with the silver salver returning home to Woodcote Park at last! Thank you to everyone who participated in the event, reserves, and those who helped to make the fixture a success.

The Men’s Royal Belfast Tour

The Royal Automobile Club’s Men’s team had a fabulous tour to Royal Belfast and played Ardglass, a links course on the East coast and then twice at Royal Belfast Golf Club which was celebrating their centenary on the present site at Craigavad.

We were warmly welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed the company and banter with the odd Guinness thrown in. We were beaten over the two days but great victories by the ‘locals’ Garth Harbison and Rob McCall, and by Stacey Sheldon and Andy Bowes, were celebrated in style.

Toby Cracknell and the Captain collected over £250.00 in fines for our charity, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Pictured below is Captain, Andy Macfarlane, handing over the Salver to Royal Belfast Captain, Malcolm Ditty, along with the ladies as they assembled on the tee at the Club.
