Salmon Fishing in the Yemen is a 2011 British romantic comedy-drama film directed by Lasse Hallstrom and starring Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt, Kristin Scott Thomas and Amr Waked.

Based on Paul Torday’s 2007 novel of the same name, the film was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

The story follows a fisheries expert who is recruited by a consultant to help realise a sheikh’s ambitious vision of introducing fly fishing to the Yemeni desert, setting in motion an unlikely journey of faith that challenges the boundaries between the possible and the impossible.

Hercule Poirot embarks on a cruise ship on the Nile, where he gets to know a rich American heiress on her honeymoon. The idyllic stay is hampered only by the spiteful presence of her former friend who vowed revenge for stealing the heart of her boyfriend. Murder is in the air...

CROSSPLOT (1969): LONDON THEN AND NOW

Join the Film Society for a special presentation exploring Crossplot, a stylish London-set thriller starring Roger Moore in the period between The Saint and his later Bond years.

Presented by film historian Richard Dacre, the evening will take a unique and visually engaging approach. Using selected clips from the film and contemporary photographs, Richard will revisit the London locations featured in Crossplot. He will show how these streets, buildings and spaces appear today, with some little changed and others dramatically altered or partially lost.
