The Morgan ARV6 is the ultimate race-prepared Morgan. Based on the 3.7 litre V6 Roadster, the ARV6 undergoes a range of specialist modifications for the race track, and pushes the boundaries of what is possible from a traditional Morgan car. Produced since 2014 at their Malvern factory by Morgan’s in-house racing division, AR Motorsport, there are currently just 6 examples in the world, 5 of which remain in the UK.
Several of the ARV6’s compete in the Morgan Challenge Race Series, a 33-year old friendly single marque series, which was won by one of these cars last year. Race winning pedigree has been proven throughout the last 4 years with a number of overall and class victories for ARV6’s in competition on various UK circuits.
Benefitting from a range of track focussed enhancements, the ARV6 is the first ever Morgan to feature a 5-link rear suspension, and a body that has no doors with a weight-saving heightened passenger side panel. Also aiming to reduce weight as much as possible, a lightened battery, brake system, split billet wheels and interior have all been utilised, ensuring a dry weight of 850kg.
Technical enhancements include a digital dashboard display, a first for any Morgan. A 320bhp ECU with single mass flywheel and modified timing chain tensioner are the most significant of changes from the standard road-going Roadster. With a power to weight ratio of 376bhp per tonne, the ARV6 is the most powerful Morgan ever.
This road-legal car owned by Simon Orebi Gann left the factory in March 2017, and has been tuned and supported by Brands Hatch Morgans of Borough Green in Kent, a specialist in road and track cars. Simon has raced this car since then with some success, including an overall win of the 4 hour British Heritage Relay team race at Snetterton last October with three other ARV6 drivers.
