A truly spectacular example of these wonderfully elegant ‘slope back’ Bentley Continentals with coachwork by H.J. Mulliner.
Originally supplied through the world renowned dealership Jack Barclay in Mayfair.
There are within the service folder many service records, internal memorandums, plus the original sales contract – it’s all really quite charming to behold.
The first owner exchanged his ‘D’ series ‘R’ Type Continental plus a large sum of hard-earned money for this car — the latest and most up-to-date Continental available at the time; how times change though — his original car is now worth twice the value of the replacement.
The car was restored three years ago with simultaneously new interiors and a ‘back to bare metal’ repaint, finished in Special Dark Oxford Blue.
New rear wheel spats were also commissioned during the same restoration.
Regularly driven, both in and out of town, she has a swift turn of acceleration and wafts along all day at 80 mph.
