1 GRE has been raced extensively since the mid 1960’s.
Firstly by a well-known amateur racer Ernie Miller who owned the car from around 1965 to 1972, with numerous race wins at club level. It was also prepared and raced at this time by Ian Moss, who was a well-known racing department employed mechanic at Aston Martin Works. In 1972 it was acquired by Robin Hamilton (Aston Martin distributor and Le Mans preparer and racer).
Prepared for racing by Robin and David Jack and raced by Robin, with numerous wins until damaged in a racing accident at Silverstone in 1975. It was rebuilt in the early 1980’s by David Jack (Aston Engineering). Then owned by Aston enthusiast Frank Tarry. It was used as a road car for several years. It was acquired by Wolfgang Friedrichs to put back into racing spec. approx. 18 years ago.
