Peter Brown PNEAC, RP, ROI, Hon. RBA, PS
Friday 31 July to Friday 28 August 2020
Peter Brown is widely acclaimed as one of Britain’s best plein air painters. Working solely in front of the subject, refusing to use photographic reference, his passion for depicting everyday life and light has taken him over the years across the world. In this collection, Peter demonstrates his undying love for the London which he never tires of alongside a selection of paintings from further afield. His obsession with capturing fleeting weather, and light movement means he is always on the lookout for happenings such as night lazer displays at Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage or a gust of wind across a path of clover. This has enabled him to develop a deftness of touch energising his work with a reality and a feeling for the viewer of ‘being there’.
Peter was born in Reading in 1967, studied art at Bath College of Higher Education and Manchester Polytechnic. He is President of the New English Art Club, a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Pastel Society and an honorary member of the Royal Society of British Artists.
