On Saturday 5 October the Club’s Young Members’ Committee hosted its first Driving Tour which included wine tasting, private dining and plenty of scenic driving routes throughout East and West Sussex.
30 members and guests joined the trip, with all types of cars welcomed. There were of course a few standouts which made up the convoy, including a McLaren 570s, an Aston Martin V12 S, a Bentley Mulsanne (1982) and a BMW i8.
Those embarking on the tour congregated at the Fountain in the morning for pictures before enjoying coffee, tea and breakfast pastries at the 19th Hole, after which the driving began.
Journeying on set routes, the group departed from Woodcote Park and headed down to Goodwood via scenic roads before breaking for lunch in Laughton, East Sussex. The journey then continued to the Deans Place Hotel, where attendees were collected and transported to the award-winning Breaky Bottom Wine Estate where the owners took guests on a guided tour of the vineyard with wine tasting.
Following the marvelous wine tasting the group were returned to the hotel, located on the banks of Cuckmere River at the foot of the South Downs National Park. That evening the members enjoyed dinner in a private room at the hotel’s two AA Rosettes restaurant. The following morning a hearty breakfast was served before guests departed for their journey’s home.
The Young Members’ Committee is open to all Club members aged 18-40, with plenty of activities going on throughout the year. To find out more about the Young Members’ Committee, including upcoming events, click here.
