As many of you will be aware, new government requirements relating to customer authentication when using credit or debit cards are progressively coming into effect. This is why you are likely to be experiencing many more organisations sending you one-time codes to verify payments.
We have already upgraded the card machines in all our outlets (including the restaurants, bars and shops) but there will be a transition period from Monday until mid-April while the necessary IT systems are upgraded and integrated by our suppliers. During this transition period any payments by credit or debit cards will require a large amount of manual processing by our staff. In addition, card transactions are likely to take longer than you are used to due to the additional security requirements.
We therefore ask for your support by paying for charges with your member account. This will be quicker and simpler than paying by credit or debit card.
Card payment will still be available when absolutely essential for guests or members.
At the end of each month your member account can still be settled by credit or debit card or, ideally and most easily, by Direct Debit. Your payment method can be amended and, if you wish, a Direct Debit mandate created in the Payment Methods section of My Account.
Thank you for your assistance and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Your help and understanding is gratefully appreciated.
