Pall Mall, Mall Room
Monday 30 October to Saturday 3 November
The fourth annual Art of Motoring exhibition was launched in the Mall Rooms on Tuesday 30 October, as part of the Club’s annual London Motor Week and will run until Sunday 3 November.
The Art of Motoring is one of Europe’s primary curated exhibitions of motoring and motor racing art and incorporates the works of 14 prolific motoring artists and sculptors including Tim Layzell, John Ketchell and Klaus Wagger.
The distinct artworks are so varied but immediately recognisable to a motoring art enthusiast, from John Ketchell’s semi-abstract style Tim Layzell’s ‘pop art’ technique featuring blocks of colour and strong black lines to Richard Wheatland’s stunning paintings which are always admired for their high level of accuracy and meticulously researched technical and historical details.
For the first time in many years, the works of Argentinian artist Alfredo de la Maria are also on display along with the unique solid bronze and aluminium castings by sculptors Gary Smith, Tim Potts and Robin Bark. Another debutant is Jonny Ambrose, showing his steam-bent wood and carbon fibre creations.
The Art of Motoring exhibition will be open for viewing from 9.30am–7.00pm daily, except for Saturday when it closes at 3.00pm. The majority of the works are for sale.
