Planting the Jubilee Cedar

16 - 03 - 2022

This is your opportunity to go down in history!

222 years ago, Mary de Tessier, the wife of the then-owner of Woodcote Park, planted some cedar trees in her garden. Today, we are still enjoying these magnificent trees on the edge of the Cedar Lawn.

On Sunday 5 June, on the Jubilee Weekend, we will be conducting a very special ceremony when we will plant a new Himalayan Cedar tree by the Cedar Lawn – and we are looking for seven Woodcote Juniors (one representing each decade of Her Majesty’s reign) to help us.

The ‘Jubilee Cedar’, as it will be named, is part of the Club’s contribution to the The Queen’s Green Canopy, the nationwide initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

If you would like to follow in the footsteps of Mary de Tessier, please email the Communications Team by Monday 2 May with the names and membership numbers of the Woodcote Junior and the sponsoring Full Member. The lucky Woodcote Juniors will then be selected at random. As well as featuring in the Club magazine your names will be on a plaque next to the tree commemorating the event.

We look forward to hearing from you: let’s make history together!
