Newcomers and motoring veterans joined together in Pall Mall on Thursday 25 January for the Club’s annual Motoring Open Evening. It was here that members were able to discover the events and plans the Motoring Team has in store for the year ahead, while setting some hot laps on the race simulators.
With the Motoring Committee and the Motoring Team in attendance, it was the perfect opportunity for those who are new to the Club, or those who hadn’t previously been involved in Motoring activities, to ask questions and enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts.
The evening kicked off with a welcome from Chairman of the Motoring Committee, Peter Read. As well as running through a few highlights from 2017, Peter gave an update (as well as a few teasers) about what’s in store for 2018 – including a range of new events.
With a number of the Club’s coveted trophies on display in the centre of the room, including the prestigious British Grand Prix trophy, members and their guests enjoyed canapés and refreshments, while taking a moment to visit the different stands around the room. Whether it was signing up for the next Consistency Trial, challenging each other on the racing simulator, or having a look through a few fascinating items from the archive, there was plenty to get involved in. For anyone considering participating in the 1000 Mile Trial or the Veteran Car Run, guests had the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives from HERO Events and Goose Live Events.
