The motorcycling calendar continues to grow at the Club, with a broad variety of events to suit all tastes. A more ‘hands-on’ event was the Club’s visit to the KTM Off-Road experience in West Sussex. Here the motorbike enthusiasts tried their hand at off-road biking as they drove KTM Motocross machines around a dirt track.
The Golding Barn Raceway is a professional motocross practice and race facility and had been running as a KTM Motocross Experience venue for over 23 years.
Upon arrival members were given a short safety briefing and introduction before heading out onto the small practice track to get familiar with the machines. Here they were tutored on the basic principles of off-road riding, including body positioning for braking, cornering, and up-hill and down-hill travel by a fully registered instructor.
After a hop-off for lunch, the riders went back out onto the dirt, this time trying their hand at the larger off-road track featuring some small jumps and steeper terrain. Members were also given the chance to try out the impressive fleet of bikes, which included a KTM 450 SX-F, KTM 350 SX-F, KTM 250 SX-F, KTM 125 SX, KTM 250 EXC-F and a KTM 250 Freeride.
The event was a great day-out for the Club’s motorcycling enthusiasts and showed there are options for the more high-speed experiences alongside the Club’s more leisurely Ride-Outs.
