The Club has won the ‘Rally or Tour of the Year’ Award at the International Historic Motoring Awards for the 2015 Bonhams London to Brighton Veteran Car Run. The awards, which took place on Thursday 17 November 2016 at London’s magnificent Guildhall, resembled a ‘who’s who’ of historic motoring as famous names from around the world of motoring, motor sport and industry gathered for the event’s sixth annual ceremony.
Ben Cussons, Chairman of the Veteran Car Run Steering Group said, ‘We are delighted to have won the Rally or Tour of the Year Award against such a high calibre of contenders. The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is the world’s longest-running car event, spanning 120 years and forms the cornerstone to our motoring heritage. This award helps to recognise that.
Cussons continued, ‘The Club are grateful to the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment from the events team marshals, volunteers, its plucky participants and the thousands of veteran enthusiasts who turn out in their droves to support our historic event come rain or shine. This award presents a small token of our collective thanks and recognition to them all’.
Launched in 2011, the International Historic Motoring Awards recognises and celebrates the skills and achievements of the worldwide historic motoring industry and comprises of 14 award categories ranging from Museum of the Year through to Motor Sport Event and Lifetime Achievement awards with all awards being judged by an international panel of leading authorities.
