The Club has been shortlisted for three awards across the ‘Motoring Event of the Year’ and ‘Rally or Tour of the Year’ categories at the sixth International Historic Motoring Awards, which will be held at the Guildhall, London on Thursday 17 November 2016. The Awards recognise and celebrate the skills and achievements of the worldwide historic motoring industry and comprise 14 award categories ranging from Museum of the Year through to Motor Sport Event and Lifetime Achievement awards.
Peter Read, Chairman of the Motoring Committee remarked that, ‘We are delighted to be shortlisted in two categories for three of the Club’s highest profile events against such a high calibre of contenders. The Club has won trophies for two consecutive years for the 1000 Mile Trial, and it’s wonderful to see the event nominated again for Rally or Tour of the Year, alongside the Bonhams London to Brighton Veteran Car Run supported by Hiscox in the same category. We are delighted also that the Regent Street Motor Show is also a contender for Motoring Event of the Year, showing the Club’s diverse involvement from veterans on the Run, to pre-war cars on the Trial and the modern and future technology displayed on Regent Street’.
The International Historic Motoring Awards are judged by an esteemed panel including racing drivers Derek Bell and Jochen Mass. This year’s awards are forecast to be one of the most exciting and closely contested with the Club at the forefront of the nominations.
