Over recent years, the Young Members Committee has done a superb job in building up the range of events and activities aimed at our younger Full Members – currently those aged 18 to 40. With the return to near-normality after the pandemic, the Board felt that this was an appropriate time to review the purpose and focus of these activities.
The aim of the programme arranged by the Young Members Committee is to ensure that our younger members have events and activities which are designed for their age group and where they can mix with similarly aged fellow members, encouraging them to use the Club when they are transitioning through their university years into establishing a career.
The Board has therefore decided that the current age range of 18 to 40 is too great and that, from Thursday 1 September this year, Young Members events will only be open to members and their guests aged 18 to 35 (inclusive).
The Young Members Committee is currently reviewing its activities to ensure that they are focussed on this age group and would welcome any views or ideas for the future programme. Next week, they will be sending a survey to all members aged 18 to 35 to gather your feedback on the types of events and activities you would like to see arranged.
I would like to conclude by thanking the Young Members Committee for their excellent work and I am sure this renewed focus will help this to continue even more effectively.
