Club Members’ Autumn Tour

15 - 07 - 2022

The Royal Automobile Club Member’s Autumn Tour begins at Bicester Heritage, the first business campus dedicated to historic motoring, based at the UK’s best-preserved WW2 RAF bomber station – the former RAF Bicester. Member’s will assemble at the HERO-ERA rally headquarters for a driver briefing and an introduction to tulip navigation before taking to their classic cars ready to depart under the HERO arch.

Crews should look out for answers in “special trivia sections” along the route which heads north through the Oxfordshire countryside. Both crew and car will enjoy the villages and hamlets, passing through Potterspury and Lillingstone Lovell until all arrive at the rest stop at Stowe Gardens National Trust Café. A quick refuel for the crews and an opportunity to swap driver / navigator duties (if desired), before re-joining the route and embarking on the second stretch of the tour.

The journey continues northwards using more delightful driving roads with countryside to match, travelling through Syresham and on towards Daventry where a well-deserved buffet lunch awaits at the Red Lion in Hellindon. This beautifully British pub is the perfect place to swap driving stories and debrief the morning’s trivia with fellow members before the return cruise back to Bicester Heritage. Canon’s Ashby will charm the crews as they pass through en-route to the lovely Hethe and Hardwick villages, arriving back to Bicester Heritage mid-afternoon for prizegiving and farewell refreshments.
