Pall Mall Christmas Carols

A crowd of over 700 people gathered beside the adorned Christmas tree in the rotunda, to listen to the Club Choir sing a selection of Christmas carols, conducted by Alex Davan Wetton.

In the infamous ‘Christmas song’, Nat King Cole sings about “Yuletide carols being sung by a choir” and that’s exactly what happened on the night of Wednesday 10 December at Pall Mall.

A crowd of over 700 people gathered beside the adorned Christmas tree in the rotunda, to listen to the Club Choir sing a selection of Christmas carols, conducted by Alex Davan Wetton.

There was something for everyone, from the more well-known carols like ‘Hark the Herald’ to a new song ‘A Christmas Blessing’, solely performed by the choir, which received a huge round of applause. Audience participation was thoroughly encouraged by Alex, who confidently took over the reins from his father who normally conducts the choir, particularly during the entertaining rendition of ‘The 12 days of Christmas’. At the end of the hour-long performance, one member commented that it really did feel like Christmas now.

It’s only been three years since the Club choir was set up and organised by Pippa Cronk, but it goes from strength to strength and the Choir look forward to their next event.

So on behalf of the Club choir, I will reiterate the words from the last carol that was sung that night, ‘We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.’
