The governing body of the Club is the Committee (The Board of Directors), presided over by the current Chairman, Sir David Prosser.

Standing Committees
Four standing committees support the main Committee. The Pall Mall House Committee, Woodcote Park House Committee, Elections Committee and Motoring Committee. In addition, there are a number of sub committees, each one dealing with one of the many activities in which Club members are involved. Each sub committee has a chairman and each is responsible to the relevant House Committee.

Special Members
The purpose of the Royal Automobile Club is:
To maintain and conduct a private members’ club offering high quality accommodation, including dining, recreational and sporting facilities for the benefit of its members and their guests; and, as the oldest motoring institution in the United Kingdom to respect the aims of its founders, and seek to promote the best interests of motorists and motor sport.
Members, management and staff are guided by the following principles and values:
- focus continually on the needs of members as the basis of the Club’s present and future health
- encourage tolerance and consideration between members, within an exclusive but diverse member-owned club
- encourage a welcoming and convivial environment for members and their guests
- respect the Club’s heritage – motoring, social, sporting and architectural - giving them a sustainable contemporary context
- provide a wide variety of high quality facilities and services that are good value for money
- maintain the highest standards of club governance for all members.
Applicants’ attention is drawn to the rules, bylaws and dress regulations of the Club. Applicants and new members are advised that adherence to these is a condition of membership.
